Russian-Chinese Section of the Valdai Club to discuss Russia’s Strategy in Asia

The
regular meeting of the Russian-Chinese section of the Valdai International
Discussion Club will be held on December
3-4, 2011, in Shanghai, P.R.
China. The topic of the meeting will be “China and Russia in Asia”. The
conference, co-hosted by the Center for Russian Studies, East China Normal
University (ECNU), will discuss prospects of Russia’s cooperation with
Asia Pacific countries, as well as economic and political barriers, which
prevent Russia from ‘coming back’ to this, the most dynamically developing,
region of the globe.
The
meeting will also discuss theses of the report “Russian strategy in Asia”,
drafted by the Russian participants to the conference. The report contains
analysis of Russia’s challenges and opportunities in the Asia Pacific in the
context of regional integration processes and Russian-Chinese strategic
partnership, as well as estimation of instruments and priorities of the Russian
policy in Asia, prospects of Russia’s cooperation with Asia Pacific countries
and regional organizations, etc.
Participants
of the conference include top-level scholars and experts on economy, politics,
and international relations from the leading universities and research centers
of Russia, China, India, Japan and Singapore.
Working
languages of the conference are Chinese, English, and Russian.
